Renowned Ugandan singer Stecia Mayanja has returned to Uganda after an extended stay in Canada.
In a press conference held in Kampala, Mayanja shared her plans to revive her music career, driven by a strong desire to reconnect with her fans and resume live performances in her home country.
Upon her arrival at Entebbe, Mayanja addressed rumors that have circulated during her absence, stating she intends to clear up the misinformation in the coming days. Addressing recent speculation, she denied claims of deportation, emphasizing that she was back by choice.
“I am so overwhelmed and still coming to terms with being back home. You’ve shown me so much love that I’ve missed for a while,” she expressed.
“I am back, and I am set to start shows on Wednesday. I have solid management now, and I am fully booked through December. There’s a lot to address, but I’m here for it.”
Mayanja, a former top performer in Uganda, also expressed her excitement about returning to Uganda, noting how much she missed the energy of live performances and the warm Ugandan climate.
“I have been away for years, and I felt it was time to come back and offer my fans the best,” she added.
Known for her vibrant stage presence, Mayanja was once among Uganda’s most sought-after artists for events such as weddings and parties, where she commanded fees exceeding Shs 7 million.
Despite rumors that her experience in Canada did not meet expectations, Mayanja remains optimistic, vowing to reclaim her place in Uganda’s music scene.
