Spire Warns of ‘Bloodbath’ as Alien Skin Gang Violence Escalates

Dr. Spire Ssentongo, a renowned cartoonist and academic, has raised concerns over the escalating gang violence in the music industry, particularly the rise of Patrick Mulwana alias Alien Skin gang.

Drawing parallels to the violent gang culture in American rap music, Dr. Ssentongo cautioned that the situation could spiral out of control and lead to catastrophic consequences.

In a recent comment on the matter, Dr. Ssentongo warned that if the Alien Skin gang continues to operate without facing legal repercussions, it could result in further violence and chaos.

“If you have keenly studied the history of violent musicians’ gangs (especially in American rap), you should sense that the Alien Skin gang phenomenon is likely to end very badly,” he said.

The academic stressed that allowing such individuals to operate above the law would force the public, and those impacted by the violence, to defend themselves using similar means.

“You are watching a bloodbath taking shape,” Dr. Ssentongo added, expressing grave concern about the potential impact on both the music industry and society.

The rise of gangs like Alien Skin’s, which has been linked to several violent incidents at music events, has put Uganda’s entertainment sector under growing scrutiny.

Experts, including Dr. Ssentongo, are calling for immediate intervention by law enforcement and music industry leaders to prevent further violence and restore order.

The statement comes in the wake of a recent clash between rival groups associated with musicians Patrick Mulwana (Alien Skin) of the Fangone Forest crew and Pius Mayanja (Pallaso), which occurred at the Empelle Festival in Buloba.

Investigations into the Buloba assault are underway, while authorities are intensifying efforts to curb violence at music events.

Reports suggest that Alien Skin’s gang disrupted the Empelle Festival, attempting to prevent Pallaso from completing his performance. Pallaso’s team reportedly fought back, escalating tensions between the two groups.

The violence also erupted on December 31, the day before the Empelle Festival, during the Ekuuka concert, where Alien Skin’s gang was blamed for causing chaos and disrupting the event, which was organized by Abbey Musinguzi (Abtex).

Sources allege that Abtex, the event organizer, neglected security concerns and the safety of attendees, allowing Alien Skin to perform despite knowing his presence could lead to conflict.

Critics have since questioned the security measures in place for the event, with some claiming that Buganda Kingdom failed to properly organize a safe environment.

The violence has reportedly escalated into a personal vendetta, with Pallaso allegedly attacking Alien Skin’s home in retaliation.

Reports indicate that Pallaso allegedly damaged property, including cars, windows, and doors, in the aftermath of the Buloba incident.

With both sides deeply entrenched in conflict, there are growing concerns over how long the gang violence will continue to plague the Ugandan music industry.
