Six Killed as Bus Collides with Charcoal Lorry on Hoima- Kampala Road

At least six people have died in a fatal accident along the Hoima-Kampala road in Kyankwanzi district. Seven others have critically been injured.

The accident involved two motorvehicles, an Isuzu  bus registration number UBQ 595G and a Fuso Fighter truck registration number UBF 541C. The accident happened at around 4am at Kyakabuga village in Kyankwanzi district. 

The bus that was loaded with passengers was traveling from Kampala to Hoima while the Fuso lorry that was loaded with charcoal was from Hoima heading to Kampala. They collided headon killing the six people on the spot.Both vehicles got burnt. 

Some of the deceased persons have been identified as Gerald Muhumuza, 40, the Bus driver who is a resident of Kibingo cell in Hoima West division, Hoima city; Matsukizo Linongola, 47, a Congolese national who was a passenger in the bus while the identities of the other four victims who were traveling in the Fuso truck are yet to be established.

The bodies have been picked up by the police who conveyed them to Hoima regional referral hospital city mortuary forpostmortem examination.

Lameck Kigozi, the Wamala region police spokesperson has confirmed the accident adding that investigations have commenced.

Kigozi says the injured victims have been evacuated to Kikonda health center III in Kyankwanzi where they are currently admitted undergoing treatment.
