Security measures have been heightened at Parliament and surrounding areas, including entrance and exit routes, in anticipation of a planned protest today against the alleged corruption at parliament
Various government security agencies have deployed personnel to ensure a peaceful environment at parliament and surrounding areas in Kampala.
The increased security presence is a response to threats from a group of concerned Ugandans who had organized a march to Parliament to protest corruption and demand the resignation of Speaker Anita Among.
As a precautionary measure, access to Parliament has been restricted to only Members of Parliament, staff, and individuals with authorized identification.
Visitors are not permitted today, unlike in previous days.
Despite the tensions, Parliament is scheduled to resume its plenary sittings today at 2 pm, with Speaker Anita Among presiding over the session.
