Ugandan stand-up comedian Patrick Idringi aka Salvado, has said he will use his Africa Laughs Comedy show as a stage to honour the late Rajiv Rupaleria.
Salvado reveals that he is honouring Rajiv for being one of the people who promoted him since joining the comedy industry.
He said that without Rajiv and the support of Rupaleria Group and other sponsors like Steve Jean, he wouldn’t have made it to the top, and that is the reason why he would like to honour such people for the great contribution they have done to uplift his career.
“I will also be honouring the late Cedric Babu and other friends of mine that have passed because this is the only moment that I have to celebrate them as well because without their support, i wouldn’t have made it,” he said
Speaking at a press conference at Kingdom Kampala on Thursday, 18th, September 2025, Salvado said he will also be using the opportunity to celebrate 15 years of being a comedian.
“ Rupaerlia group is also one of the sponsors for this event because this is where I am going to hold the show. I would like to thank them for giving me this venue to organize the event,” he stated.
He said he will perform for only one hour and then leave the platform for other Ugandan performers like Napoleon and Ann Kansiime.
The show will feature Africa’s top stand-up comedians such as Basket Mouth (Nigeria), Eric Omondi (Kenya), Celestine Ntuli (South Africa), Mpoho Popps (South Africa) and Duba Akau Jambo (South Sudan)
Salvado went on to say that Uganda has one of the best comedy talents in Africa, though the challenges remain, like a lack of support from the public and the corporate.
Anito Sam, an official from Euro Gold Uganda Limited, said he agreed to be one of the sponsors for the event because Salvado turned laughter into an enterprise.
The show will be happening for the first time in 4 years after Salvado cancelled the 2023 edition because of unforeseen circumstances.
