A property row between two land owners of Jahazi Pier Munyonyo forced the management of Swangz Avenue to postpone the highly anticipated Roast and Rhyme festival which was supposed to take place on Sunday 23rd,February,2025
Based on the official press statement issued by Swangz Avenue CEO Julius Kyazze on Sunday, they faced last-minute challenges with the venue, and for the safety and overall experience of partiers, the event had to be rescheduled to a later date.
However, it has now been revealed that the Reggae, Ragga and dance hall themed event was postponed after the management of the industrial area based Events Company got caught up in a land dispute.
According to Julius Kyazze, the Chief Executive Officer of Swangz Avenue, a recent court order prevented them from going ahead with the event because there’s a property dispute between two people who are embroiled in a dispute over ownership of the piece of land where Jahazi Pier, Munyonyo is located.
“Because of the court order, the police couldn’t clear us to go ahead with the final preparations for the event,” he said in a live a television interview on Monday 24th, February, 2025
He said the event would have been held at a different venue one week after the incident but they are waiting for the holy Muslim month of Ramathan to end so that they can organize another concert celebrating the same theme.
He said that the tickets for the event remain valid and asked all those that had bought tickets to bring along a friend for free as one of the ways of compensating and appreciating their fan base.
The headliners of this festival were meant to be dance hall artistes Karole Kasita,Young Mulo, Beenie Gunter and Winnie Nwagi.
