A brutal attack by panga-wielding assailants left one person dead and others critically injured in Nakisunga Sub-county in Mukono District.
The deceased has been identified as Brian Kasimagwa, a gospel singer and member of Banda Christian Centre. Among the injured is Emmanuel Bbosa, the Vice Chairperson of Nakisunga Sub-county, who is currently receiving treatment.
Cissy Nabbaale, Kasimagwa’s mother, recounted her last interaction with her son. “He last called me after work at night. When I tried to call him back, someone else answered his phone. That’s when we suspected something was wrong. Later, we found he had been killed near his home.”
Bbosa, speaking from his hospital bed, said the attackers ambushed him as he was returning from Kisoga Town. “They beat me and took my phone. I’m in a lot of pain; my head was badly injured,” he said.
Herona Hospital spokesperson, Robert Ssekito, confirmed that Kasimagwa was brought in at around 3:00 a.m. in critical condition and was declared dead shortly after arrival.
The attack, which occurred on Sunday night, has left the local community in fear. relatives, friends, and followers of Banda Christian Centre gathered at Herona Hospital, where Kasimagwa was briefly admitted before being pronounced dead.
Local leaders blamed the rising crime rate on the influx of unemployed youth into Nakisunga, some of whom have turned to crime.
