The National Economic Empowerment Dialogue (NEED): Addressing Opposition Concerns

Written by on November 20, 2023

The National Economic Empowerment Dialogue (NEED) has cautioned the Speaker of Parliament against threatening the opposition MPs currently boycotting Parliament sittings following the failure by Parliament to address their grievances.

Its now 3 weeks ever since the opposition MPs led by their leader Mathias Mpuga stormed out of Parliament accusing Parliament for its failure to address issues concerning human rights violation and abductions.

Instead of addressing the concerns of the opposition MPs, the Speaker of Parliament Annet Anita Among issued a stern warning to boycotting opposition legislators threatening to invoke Parliament rule of absence if their prolonged absence continues.

Addressing a press conference at the Party offices located in Lubaga, Salongo Matovu Moses the Party Spokesperson says issues to do with human rights are very instrumental and he doesn’t see the reason as to why the Speaker of Parliament doesn’t give the priority.
