Four people including medical personnel have been remanded to Luzira prison for allegedly causing the death of an expectant mother.
The trio is said to have negligently carried out a ceaseran operation on 37 year old Ritah Nansubuga in unsuitable premises and by unprofessional personnel, there by causing her death.
Nansubuga, formerly a nursing officer in Dubai is said to have checked in at Sun Set consults clinic in Mulago for an antenatal routine visit but was instead convinced to undergo a ceaseran section at the facility, yet it lacked professional personnel and equipment to provide adequate medical care.
The quartet comprises of Dr. Kadaga Henry Francis a Gynecologist, Kyowanika Joel the proprietor of Sun- set clinic in Mulago, Budhugo Hassan , an orthopedic technologist and Ahmed Lutaaya Kaleebu a business man; who is said to have connected the deceased to the clinic.
Three of the accused were arrested by the State House Health Monitering unit after Nansubuga’s relatives registered a complaint on 4th September 2025.
Nansubuga is survived by a three weeks old baby boy.
Today the group has been presented before Buganda Road court Chief magsitrate Ronald Kayizzi and they denied a count of manslaughter and Conspiracy to commit a felony.
Lutaaya is however still at large and criminal summons have been issued against him.
Dr. Kadaga, Kyowanika and Budhugo Hassan have been remanded to Luzira prison until 8th October for a bail application.
