Man Takes Own Life After Killing Wife and Baby
A boda boda rider identified as Isabirye in Katende Triangle Ward in Northern Division, Bugembe Town Council, Jinja City has taken his life after setting his wife and their 9-month-old baby on fire.
The deceased has only been identified as Mama Namunana.
The wife and child died on the spot. It is said that after realizing his wife and baby had died, Isabirye took his own life in the same room. Muhammad Kisambira, the landlord of Isabirye and a resident of Katende Triangle Ward, stated that he had been demanding rent from Isabirye for over three months, but the boda boda rider had failed to pay.
He also mentioned that the incident followed a misunderstanding between the couple.
Rajab Kasule, the defense secretary of Katende Triangle Ward, urged men to work hard and seek advice from elders in case of any misunderstandings at home.
Police has not yet released any official report about the incident.
The bodies were taken to Jinja Regional Referral Hospital for postmortem examination, and investigations are ongoing to determine the details.
