Ex-Supreme Court Judge Mugamba Named Mediator in Late Bakiza Estate Dispute

Buganda Road court has appointed  former Supreme Court judge Paul Mugamba to mediate between the children of the  former police CID boss Chris Bakiza and their step-mother whom they accuse of intermeddling with the estate of thier late father.

The directive from trial chief magistrate Ronald Kayizzi follows a request from 51 year old Robinah Mbabazi, who was dragged before Buganda Road Court two months ago on charges of intermeddling with the property of the deceased .

Mbabazi, a widow to the late Bakiiza  is accused of selling his property including vehicles and accessing money in his Stanbic Bank account without any authorisation from the Administrator General.

She however pleaded not guilty to the charges and has since asked court to grant an opportunity to settle the matter amicably with the complaints who are her step-children.

The children claim their step-mother has since denied them access and full benefit from the estate of their late father.

Mbabazi’s move  to settle the matter has been welcomed by magistrate Kayizzi saying the late Bakiza was a prominent man who should not be put to shame even after his death.

He has now directed that the matter be taken through Alternative case despute Resolution and report back to Court on the 8th/ December 2025.
