The President of the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) Cinderella Sanyu has defended the government against reports of bias on the distribution of Sacco funds meant for artistes.
In a morning Television talk show on Monday 27th, October, 2025, She said all artistes regardless of whether they support the government or not are entitled to the money as long as they fulfill the terms and conditions for getting it.
“I have visited so many government offices in search for solutions for artistes since I am the President of the association. What I can say is that no government official has told me about any directive of not giving out SACCO funds to artistes who do not support it and its programs,” she said.
She further said that the government is interested in supporting all creatives regardless of their political affiliations.
“UMA is a non partisan organization that brings together all artistes together to fight for common goals, and when one is joining us, we do not ask them which political party they support,” she said.
Her comments come after the President of the Uganda National Musicians Association (UNMF) Eddy Kenzo threatened not to give SACCO money to artistes that are performing for opposition politicians including Bobi Wine.
Recently artistes like Pallaso and Ziza Bafana announced that they will be joining the presidential campaign trail of Bobi Wine and will be performing at his rallies despite being members of the Federation.
