Chameleone Pledges to Build Music School in Remote South Sudan Province

Singer Jose Chameleone has pledged to build a music school in the Western Equatorial Province of South Sudan in a town known as Yambio.

He said the project will be as a reward for the support the people of South Sudan have showed him for the 25 years he has been in the music industry.

He made the promise after making a public appearance in Yambio where he spoke to the youth of the area.

He shared THAT the school will be used for training and equipping South Sudanese emerging musicians and said the investment will be done because of his shared deep emotional connection with the people of the area.

He also used the opportunity to visit the King of Azande his Majesty Atoroba Peni Rikito and hailed him for promoting peace and Unity in his Kingdom.

He was one of the Ugandan artistes that performed in the area during the celebrations to mark 14 years of Independence of South Sudan

The show also featured Ugandan artiste Eddy Kenzo and was organized by South Sudanese music promoter Don Eddie of Don Promotions, in collaboration with local entertainment stakeholders. 

He was welcomed by top state officials, including the Acting Governor, Daniel Badagbu Rimbasa.

The Governor praised Chameleone’s visit as a symbol of unity and African solidarity. Chameleone himself expressed his love for the people of Yambio and thanked them for the warm reception. 

The event to mark the 14 years of independence were held on July 9, 2025 and several events to mark the day were held in the different regions of the country with the main celebrations taking place in the South Sudanese capital Juba.
