Ugandan music Producer and Songwriter Daddy Andre is in trouble for selling a song to two different artistes who are both claiming ownership of the song.
According to Willar Stary, an upcoming artiste, he contacted Andre to sell him a song called Ngenderera and even paid for the song but was surprised that the same song was posted on YouTube by a Canadian based Ugandan artiste called Twin Jojo, who is also claiming he bought it from Andre.
Willar Stary said he was the first buyer of the song and narrated how he had first sought to feature artistes like Sheeba Karungi, Winnie Nwagi before deciding to feature Kataleya and Kandle in the project.
“When I featured these female artistes in my song, the song started getting views on YouTube and by the time it was pulled down by YouTube, it had made 2 milllion views, which is a big achievement to me,” he said in a local Television interview on 20th,October, 2025
He is now planning to sue Andre for Ugx 20 million in damages because he claims to have invested a lot of money in recording and promoting the song
Addressing the controversy on TV, Daddy Andre accused artists of being indecisive when he sends them demos to choose from regarding the song they would like to buy.
“You can send different demos to artists and artists without knowing what the contract says or without signing the spreadsheets, they will go ahead and record from somewhere. You might send them like six songs, and they think they own all of them,” he argued.
“They record with someone else or one of your boys without your knowledge, and before you know it, they have the song. The problem is, they do not communicate,” he explained.
