Alien Skin Granted Bail in Hospital Assault Case

Renowned singer Patrick Mulwana, popularly known as Alien Skin, has been granted bail following his arrest last week.

The Makindye Magistrates Court, presided over by Magistrate Esther Adikini, approved his release around 11 a.m. on Thursday after a reconciliation process with the complainants, St. Francis Hospital in Nsambya.

Alien Skin and his bodyguard were arrested last week and charged with causing grievous harm to hospital staff, including two security guards.

During Thursday’s court session, his legal team, led by Precious Nahabwe, informed the court that a reconciliation agreement had been reached with the complainants, paving the way for bail.

Magistrate Adikini approved bail for the singer, setting the amount at Shs 1 million cash. Each of his three sureties was required to post a non-cash bond of Shs 5 million.

The court imposed several conditions, including a prohibition on leaving the country without prior permission and a ban on direct or indirect contact with the victims, including through social media.

The next hearing for the case has been scheduled for January 13, 2024.

Outside the court, fans and celebrities gathered in large numbers to celebrate the singer’s release.

Alien Skin’s troubles began last week after a video circulated on social media showing his associates assaulting staff at St. Francis Hospital. The incident sparked public outrage, leading to his arrest.

While he has been granted bail in this case, Alien Skin is also facing robbery charges, with a hearing scheduled for December 9.
