The Chairperson of the National Physical Planning Board Amanda Ngabirano has urged the government of Uganda and other relevant authorities to consider compensating Industry owners whose plans were approved in wetlands .
Ngabirano made remarks while addressing the stakeholders meeting held at Colline Hotel in Mukono municipality aimed at reviewing the Mukono municipal physical master plan under review before final implementation.
She noted the urgency to have all the industries and factories established in wetlands demolished and have owners compensated in order to mitigate the continuing climate change effects in the country.
Ngabirano has also warned the technocrats to stand firm and resist corruption to defy impunity of some individuals encroaching on wetlands calling themselves untouchables to be able to prevent the unforgiving consequences of environment mismanagement.
Mukono municipality legislator Betty Nambooze Bakireke has urged technocrats to be people centered and implement plans that accomodate accommodative the local population.
