Unidentified Juvenile Found Strangled in Kibuye

Police in Katwe are investigating a gruesome murder case involving a male juvenile who was found strangled to death in Kayembe Urban Village council, Kibuye two parish, Makindye division.

According to Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, the incident occurred on January 11th, 2025, at an unknown time.

The victim, whose identity remains unknown, was discovered with pieces of clothing tied tightly around his neck.

Police received reports of the suspected murder at around 7:30 a.m. and swiftly opened a case file at Katwe Police. 

“A team of officers visited the scene, documenting the area, and recording statements from witnesses,” said Onyango.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the victim was killed elsewhere and then dumped at a football pitch. 

Police are now working to identify the victim and apprehend those responsible. The community is urged to come forward with any information that may aid in the investigation.

In more crime news Police in Kampala are investigating a case of aggravated robbery that occurred on January 10, 2025, at a retail shop and a mobile money outlet in Kanyanya, Kawempe.

According to Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, the robbery occurred at around 10 p.m. when three men stormed a one David Karuhanga’s retail shop and made off with an estimated 400,000 Ugandan shillings. 

The victims, Karuhanga and Tayebwa Bruno, a 27-year-old businessman and mobile money agent, reported that one of the men entered the shop and kicked Karuhanga before stealing the money.

The robbers, who were allegedly armed with pistols, then proceeded to Tayebwa’s mobile money shop, where they put Tayebwa and his wife at gunpoint. Onyango said the robbers stole three million shillings, three phones, and two smartphones.

Bystanders attempted to apprehend the robbers by throwing stones, but they managed to escape after firing a bullet that hit Tayebwa’s door. 

“As the robbers fled, bystanders who were there started throwing stones at them, but this inadvertently opened a way for them to escape. They fired a bullet, which hit Tayebwa’s door, and then the robbers escaped,” said Onyango 

He noted that police were notified immediately and responded to the scene, documenting the crime scene and recovering the bullet projectile.

Inquiries are ongoing and police are urging anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects to report to the nearest police station.
