Government has been urged to fast track implementation of the climate change and disaster management legislations to mitigate disasters arising from climate change.
The call has been made during a workshop on Climate Smart Legislation and Disaster Preparedness in Uganda organized by Uganda Red Cross in conjunction with the Parliamentary Forum on Disaster Risk Reduction.
Robert Kwesiga, the Secretary General Uganda Red Cross Society says disasters arising from climate change are on the increase and that it is high time government enacts enabling laws that will define how the country can manage crisis.
