UMEAS 2023 Breaks Records with Unprecedented Participation

Evolve Group Africa is poised to host the third iteration of the Uganda Marketing Excellence Awards (UMEAS), marking the zenith of the marketing calendar. The grandiose event, adorned with a red carpet and a black-tie dress code, is scheduled for December 1st at the illustrious Kampala Serena Hotel.

UMEAS 2023 Breaks Records with Unprecedented ParticipationThe forthcoming UMEAS gala vows to surpass its predecessors in magnitude and splendor, fueled by the highest influx of submissions from the cream of corporate entities in Kampala. Anticipation mounts as over 200 entries, meticulously curated by more than 50 of Uganda’s premier brands, await the impending announcement of this year’s finalists.

Among the entrants stand eminent figures, encompassing top-tier banks, leading telecommunications companies, preeminent fast-moving consumer goods brands, and distinguished marketing and creative agencies, among others. Yet, the accolades extend beyond industry titans, as small and medium-sized enterprises have also thrown their hats into the ring, vying for recognition in this year’s nominations.

However, the selection process is far from arbitrary; stringent criteria will sift through the entries, sculpting a final list of nominees. The responsibility for this delicate task rests in the capable hands of a six-member jury, composed of industry luminaries meticulously chosen for their leadership acumen, contributions to the profession, wealth of experience, and academic prowess.

As the much-anticipated nomination announcements draw near, the jury meticulously concludes assessments to distill a list of finalists. Some nominees will undergo public scrutiny, while others will face the discernment of the jury alone. The crescendo of the gala night will herald the proclamation of all winners.

The jury, a conclave selected to ensure the utmost professionalization, credibility, transparency, and fairness, boasts distinguished personalities. Dr. Benedict Mugerwa, Head of Professional Marketing Courses at the Uganda Management Institute, leads this erudite assembly. Other luminaries include Ngulumi Immaculate Nabatte, Chief Manager Marketing and Branding at Centenary Bank, John Paul Okwi, Senior Manager Events and Sponsorships at MTN Uganda, Rogers Anguzu, Commercial Director at Crown Beverages Limited, Barbara Arimi, Head of Marketing and Communications at NSSF, and Jackie Namara Rukare, CEO of Iguru Consult Limited.

A dozen categories will witness a fierce competition among top brands, with three novel categories introduced this year. Attendance to this illustrious event commands a corporate table fee of 2 million shillings, while individual tickets carry a price tag of 100,000 shillings.
