Uganda Marketing Excellence Awards (UMEAS) 2023 Unveils Finalists for Prestigious Awards

Evolve Group Africa, the franchise owners of the Uganda Marketing Excellence Awards (UMEAS), has announced the finalists for the highly anticipated third installment of the awards. The gala is scheduled for December 1, 2023, at the Kampala Serena Hotel, bringing together top brands and agencies under the theme, “Celebrating Ideas That Work.”
Key Highlights:

New Categories: Three new categories introduced this year include the Best ESG Campaign Award, Best Not-for-Profit/Social Good Award, and Rising Agency of the Year Award.

Professional Jury: A six-member jury, including industry experts like Dr. Benedict Mugerwa, Ngulumi Immaculate Nabatte, John Paul Okwi, Rogers Anguzu, Barbara Arimi, and Jackie Namara, selected nominees based on leadership, contribution, experience, and academic qualifications.

Focus on Excellence: According to John Paul Okwi, the jury president, the focus this year centered on excellence, evaluating campaigns and projects that effectively utilized resources and demonstrated return on investment.

Nominees in Select Categories:

Advertising Campaign of the Year: Nominees include campaigns by Stanbic Bank, Bell Lager, NSSF, Unilever Uganda, Johnnie Walker, Crown Beverages Ltd, Airtel Uganda, and Singleton Uganda.

Best Use of Partnership Marketing: Johnnie Walker, NSSF Uganda, Centenary Bank/Jumia, Singleton Uganda, Airtel Mobile Commerce/Prudential Uganda, Stanbic Bank, Crown Beverages Ltd, and Swangz Avenue are among the contenders.

Best Use of Digital Marketing: Nominees include campaigns by UAP Old Mutual, Unilever Uganda, Crown Beverages Ltd, CFAO Motors, Centenary Bank Uganda, Airtel Uganda, Uganda Waragi, Guinness Uganda, KFC Uganda, Smirnoff, and Heifer International.

Special Categories:

Best Not-for-Profit/Social Good Campaign: Entries not open for public vote include campaigns by Heifer International, Centenary Bank, Treescape Planet Organization, C-Care Uganda, and Multichoice Uganda.

Best ESG Campaign: Entries not open for public vote include campaigns by TOTAL Energies EP, Absa Bank Uganda, Tusker Lite (submitted by Tusker Lite), FINCA (U) MDI, TOTAL Energies EP, and Treescape Planet Organization.

Rising Agency of the Year: Entries not open for public vote include Capital One Group, Volcanic Creative, Lime Media, and Zeus The Agency.

Agency of the Year: Entries not open for public vote include Fireworks Advertising Ltd, Buzz Events, Metropolitan Republic, and Zeus The Agency.

Marketing Campaign of the Year: Entries not open for public vote include campaigns by Singleton Uganda, CFAO Motors, Johnnie Walker Uganda, NSSF Uganda, Smirnoff, Stanbic Bank Uganda, Bell Lager, and Centenary Bank.

UMEAS Marketing Pioneer Award: To be announced at the Awards Gala.
