Former Nakawa West MP aspirant and Businessman Mukesh Shukula has been charged before the Nakawa Chief magistrates Court and remanded to Luzira prison on charges of obtaining over 220 million shillings from a fellow business colleague; Alvi Auto Village Ltd by falsely pretending that he was leasing to plots of land to him whereas not .

Mukesh the priopretor of Shumuk Group of companies has been arrested from his Nakawa office and whisked to appear before chief magistrate Elias Kakooza for formal communication of the charges.

Mukesh is jointly charged alongside two of his employees; Judith Ayebare and Kadika Dharampip being the manager and Accountant respectively.

It’s stated that between November 2020 and November 2021 at Banda in Nakawa division with an intent to defraud Shahid Mahmood Alvi , the accused conspired to obtain 220million shillings .

Mukesh has denied the charges but his co-suspects have not appeared in Court.

However through his lawyer Patrick Bwango, Mukesh pleaded to have the matter settled out of court and he was willing to compesante atleast 20 million shillings in cash .

The magistarte allowed the state some time to peruse the case file and respond to Mukesh’s bail application on Friday this week.

Mukesh had wanted to be released on bail today on grounds that he is an old man of 61 years , has a permanent place of residence along Mawanda Road where he has resided for more than 30 years and spending 20 of those as the area LC11 chairperson.

Talking to journalists , Shahid said he tried to engage his brother and the Pakistan community to compel Mukesh his money back to no avail hence involving police.

But State prosecutor Mariam Kuluthum said she had not yet met the complainant and therefore was not in the best position to mediate the matter .

Kuluthum then stated that if Mukesh is willing to settle the matter in good faith, he should go before a court appointed mediator.
