Effective July 1st, 2022, used motor vehicles between 9 and 12 years from the date of manufacture will be warehoused for a period not exceeding 6 months. According to Uganda Revenue Authority-URA.
Vehicles older than 13 years will undergo clearance at the first point of entry into the East African community unlike in the past when they would take nine months.
The Commissioner-General John Musinguzi, says the decision arises from their meetings with second-hand car dealers held on May 27th, 2022.
According to Musinguzi, URA is cognizant of the effects of global inflation on businesses, which calls for a review of the changes in the warehousing regime.1pm
