High-Profile Anti-Corruption Case: MPs Mawanda, Akamba, and Lawyer Kirya Granted Bail.

MPs Michael Mawanda, Akamba Paul and City Lawyer Julius Kirya Taitankoko have been granted bail of 35 million shillings each cash by the AntiCorruption Court .

Justice Jane Kajuga has also ordered them to deposit their passports with court, barred from leaving the country without permission and their surites bonded in 50mshs not cash.

The Judge based her decision to grant them this temporary freedom on grounds that their sureties were substantial and they are all responsible members of the community in different capacities.

She also noted that the investigations are complete, so there’s no fear that they will interfere with investigations and they have been on remand for over 60 days,
They are jointly charged with PS Trade Ministry Geraldine Ssali whose bail application ruling is scheduled to be handled separately.

 

They are six accused persons on charges of Diversion of Public Resources and conspiracy to defraud Government of over 3.4bn she meant to compensate NRA war victims loss between 2019 and 2023.

Meanwhile MP Akamba Paul has another 50mshs cash bail he has to pay before leaving prison in a another case file of Corruption whose Complainant is UHRC Chair Mariam Wangadya.
