Diamond Trust Bank – DTB Uganda and KACITA – Uganda have forged a strategic partnership to not only fortify traders’ businesses but also champion sustainability initiatives among stakeholders nationwide. The collaboration, unveiled during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding at KACITA’s headquarters, is geared towards providing tailored financial and banking services to empower traders and communities where KACITA operates.
Thadeus Musoke, KACITA Chairman, emphasized the importance of supporting women-led businesses, which constitute 65% of the businesses, especially considering their resilience in the face of post-COVID-19 challenges. “DTB is identifying us as a partner, and a focus on women traders is very important. We are sure that women businesses, if well supported, will multiply and be very pivotal in national growth,” he stated.
DTB is poised to facilitate optimal business, management, and financial practices through training initiatives, coupled with extending preferential product offers to traders. The bank also introduces the concept of ESG (Environment, Sustainability, and Governance) to the business community, engaging stakeholders in discussions on energy efficiency, carbon emissions reduction, and other areas aligning with the UN Social Development Goals.
In a noteworthy move, DTB announced its support for the establishment of the KACITA Village, wherein the bank will collaborate with property developers to provide land for KACITA members. DTB will facilitate financing for KACITA members to acquire land in the KACITA Village estate, further strengthening the ties between the bank and the business community.
