A concerned citizen has dragged the Attorney General to Highcourt seeking to block the relocation of Luzira prison.
There are on-going negotiations between Government and a Chinese company; Tian Tang group holdings Ltd that seeks to relocate Luzira prison to Buikwe inorder to pave way for the construction of five star Hotel and commercial Hub.
In his suit recieved by the Civil division, Deus Arinaitwe also seeks orders to declare as illegal the presidential directive of 10th/ July 2022 to giveaway Luzira prison Land to an investor without following due process.
He claims this is not the first time that the president is donating land to an investor in total disregard of the rights of citizens .
He now asks court to issue an injunction stopping any consultative meetings between the Miniter of Internal Affairs and represantives of Tian Tang group as the entire process amounts to forceful acquisition of land.
Arinaitwe further wants the president and Minsiter of Internal affairs to be held liable for Abuse of public office / trust for engaging in biding and lobbying of land for a private investor.
Now Arinatwe asks court to grant the orders he seeks for the interest of justice.
