Kira-Road Police Division has arrested more than 40 suspected hard-core criminals who have been terrorizing motorists and residents on the Northern Bypass.
Police Spokesperson Kituuma-Rusoke says the suspects were arrested during a joint intelligence-led operation conducted over the weekend in Kigowa one—Bukoto parish, Kamuli, Lubawo, and Buto-Bweyogerere, all on the Northern Bypass.
During the operation in Bukoto, 21 notorious criminals with various offences under the Kira-Road Division Police were arrested.
17 suspected criminals were arrested along the Agenda Bridge where the Bweyogerere Petrol station manager Agnes Nantongo was killed.
Kituuma explains that ongoing operations were prompted by growing public concern about phone snatching, house break-ins, car window smashing during rush hours and attacks on pedestrians most around the flyovers on the Northern Bypass.
Nine suspected criminals were also apprehended during operations in Buto-Bweyogere over the weekend. The suspects are known offenders who have been wreaking havoc on users of the Northern Bypass and other parts of Kira municipality.
