Deputy Speaker Anita Among has sent a warning to all committee chairpersons who have failed to produce reports on bills under their scrutiny.
She says all the bills that have delayed at the committee stage will be passed and approved without the recommendations of the respective committees. Committees are supposed to scrutinize a bill and present a report for enactment of the bill within have 45days.
In her communication Among cited seven bills for which the respective committees have failed to report back within the stipulated time.
These include the Market Bill 2021, the Fisheries and Aquaculture Bill 2021 and the Succession Amendment Bill.
Kalungu West MP Joseph Ssewungu asked the Speaker to reprimand the Committee Chairpersons because they exposes Parliament to criticism of incompetence.
