Alive and Kicking

James “Fatboy” Onen is a veteran radio presenter who over a decade has been a dominant voice on morning primetime FM radio.
With a winning combination of acerbic wit, scathing sarcasm and dark humor, he has carved a niche for himself as a powerful voice for the Ugandan youth – tackling issues ranging from education, employment, politics, entertainment, and gender issues.
He hosts the “Sanyu Breakfast” that airs Mon-Fri from 6 a.m. through 10 a.m., then also hosts “Alive and Kicking” on Saturdays from 6 a.m. through 10 a.m.
He was born in Tokyo, Japan on June 19, 1975 and studied at the American School in Japan (1981-1986). He came back to Uganda in 1986 and then joined Kampala Parents Primary School from 1986-1988. Thereafter, he went on to join Kings College, Buddo for high school from 1989-1995.
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounts that he pursued while in India from 1995 through 1998. He also holds a Diploma in Philosophy from the University of London (by correspondence).
He speaks English and Japanese.
He joined Sanyu FM (2000) LTD in 1999.
