TEARGAS AS KAMWOKYA RESIDENTS PROTEST BOBI WINE ARREST
The incarceration of Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi wine has ignited violence in his childhood neighbourhood.
On Thursday Police spent part of the day in running battles with Kyagulanyi’s supporters.
Bobi Wine's supporters blocked old Kiira road and lit fire using old tyres to protest his arrest and subsequent detention in Arua.
As a result, police swung into action and started firing teargas to disperse the protesters, leading to running battles.
Some of the protesters fled to Kifumbira slums where they regrouped and returned to the road. Others took cover Kamwokya Mosque.
The chaos forced several business people in Kamwokya trading center to close their shops.
Kamwokya is the home of Fire Base Crew, a group of artists led by the jailed legislator.
