Police together with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) are investigating circumstances under which a Bulgarian fell off a plane and died on Wednesday.

Elena Vassileva, 46, who was part of the Cabin Crew of Fly Emirates flight - EK730, reportedly fell from the Emergency Exit of a parked plane. Vassileva was preparing to board passengers when she mysteriously fell head first from the emergency exit and was rushed to Kisubi Hospital from where she was announced dead on arrival.

According to the CAA spokesperson Vianney Luggya, the authority together with other stakeholders like the police and Fly Emirates are investigating what exactly happened on the flight that led to the fall

When contacted on what exactly happened for Vassileva to fall from the lane and how the emergency exit was opened, the Fly Emirates spokesperson in Uganda, Maurine Nagasha, declined to divulge any information saying they would cooperate with authorities in the ongoing investigations.

Fly Emirates could also not confirm the death of the Cabin Crew member even though the hospital announced Vassileva dead on arrival and her body was taken to the Entebbe Hospital Mortuary in the same ambulance that had brought her for emergency response.

Francis Sekandi, the Public Relations Officer of Kisubi Hospital, was earlier today quoted in the local media confirming that Vassileva has succumbed to injuries sustained during the fall.
