Planes for Revived Uganda Airlines Arrive
The much awaited revival of the national Carrier, Uganda Airlines has finally become a reality with the arrival this monring of two Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft at Entebbe International Airport.
The two aircraft are the first of four CRJ900 Bombardier aircraft ordered by Uganda National Airlines Company in July 2018.
The arrival of the two planes officially kick starts the revival of Uganda Airlines.
Bombardier Commercial Aircraft last week delivered the first two, of four CRJ900 Bombardier aircraft ordered by Uganda National Airlines Company in July 2018.
The Uganda National Airlines Company will operate the CRJ900 in dual-class configuration with 76 economy seats and 12 first class seats.
The revived airline will be the first carrier to operate the new CRJ-series atmosphere cabin in Africa.
Government paid Shillings 280 billion for the first two planes through a supplementary budget approval by Parliament.
Uganda Airlines is expected to take to the skies in July after fulfilling several operational requirements.
The Bombardier CRJ900 plane, is expected to fly to regional destinations such as Nairobi, Kigali, Bujumbura and Juba among others.
Transport Minister Monica Azuba urged Ugandans to embrace the revived national carrier.
According to President Museveni the revival of Uganda Airlines would help Uganda on its journey to achieve Middle Income Status.
