Parliament wants Gen Kyaligonza recalled from duty

Legislators want Uganda’s Ambassador to Burundi Retired Maj Gen Mataayo Kyaligonza  re-called from duty and be prosecuted together with his  body guards  over misconduct and assaulting a police officer on Duty.

A video circulating on social media showed Kyaligonza and his two Soldiers  holding the collars of Sergeant Esther Namaganda who had stopped them from violating traffic regulations.

In a motion presented to the house by the chairperson of Uganda Women parliamentarians also Budaka Woman Mp Pamela Kamugo Nasiyo the mps questioned the level of impunity exercised by the retired soldier and his body guards.

 

The house also learnt that General Kyaligonza has on several occasions’ assaulted motorists and other members of society with impunity and he has walked away scot free.

Although the UPDF said it had no control over the retired general, Mps want him scrapped off some ranks and paraded before ordinary courts to face charges that can be determined by the police and other relevant authorities.

The shadow Internal Affairs minister also Butambala county mp Muhamad Muwanga Kivumbi notes that Kyaligonza ought to have resigned immediately as he acts contrally to the NRM core values that it claims to have fought against as it assumed power.

                                      

Gaffa Mbwatekamwa says the recalling of Kyaligonza will not be the first incident to happen as undisciplined officers worldwide have been recalled for for tainted behaviors.

 

 Muyanja Senyonga of Mukono south and Sempala Kigozi who is the Makindye Sabagabo mp dint also spare the  retired army officer saying he acted low as a freedom fighter as he claims.
