Ministry of Internal Affairs Tasked to Explain Bobi Wine Arrests
Parliament has asked the Minister of Internal Affairs to present a statement on the arrest of Kyadondo East Robert Kyagulanyi ssentamu and cancellation of his music concerts.
This follows a matter raised by MP for Rukungiri municipality Roland Mugume supported by several opposition mps including Butambala county mp Muwanga Kivumbi, Mukono municipality mp Betty Nambooze and kira municipality mp Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda over the repeated cancellation of music shows and holding of kyadondo East Mp kyagulanyi Ssentamu a.k.a Bobi Wine by police.
Rukungiri Municipality MP, Roland Mugume alleged that the Army and Police have been instructed to disorganize any political gathering of the Opposition and causing brutal and illegal arrest of opposition leaders in the country .
Butambala county mp muwanga kivumbi said he visited Robert Kyagulanyi this morning and was shocked to hear Police's ordering for Kyagulanyi to either stay home or get out and to be arrested.
He condemned police for misusing the Public Order Management Act.
The first deputy Prime Minister General Moses Ali said that mp Kyagulanyi could have defied some of the Police orders and promised to find out from the Police the illegality of Kyagulanyi's movements and music concerts.
The deputy speaker of parliament Jacob Oulanyah says that MPs need to be responsible while away from Parliament noting that the privileges may not save them.
