Boda-Boda 2010 patron Abdallah Kitata has applied to be released on bail before the General Court Martial at Makindye.

Kitata wants to be temporarily released from custody at Makindye millitary police barracks where he is currently held on charges of unlawful possession of fire arms and Millitary equipment . Among the grounds that Kitata has advanced before the 7 member court are that he suffers from a terrible health problem which he says cannot be aduately catered for while in detension.

Kitata through his lawyer Shaban Sanywa has also informed the court's head Lt. Gen Andrew Gutti that he still has responsibility as the NRM chairman for Lubaga division and a sole bread winner of his family, which two responsibilities he cannot ably dispense while in custody.

He has for that matter presented 5 surities including his father Hajji Muhammad Nabugoba a resident of Kasenene in Mukono district , his uncles ; Suleiman Ssebunya and Steven Ntanzi among others. However Kitata together with 12 other people are due to face trial on the 23rd/April 2018 before the Army court on 6 counts including unlawful possession of firearms, live ammunitions, Millitary head gears and uniforms .

Kitata separately faces 5 counts of being in unlawful possession of an SMG gun, 3 pistols and 50 rounds of live ammunitions that prosecution states were found on him on 18th/January 2018 at vine hotel in Wakaliga. According to Prosecution the above items are only a monoploy of the UPDF.

However court could not today determine Kitata's bail application because the Army prosecutor Maj. Rapheal Mugisha Was not ready to respond to it. Court has now directed the the bail application will be determined on the 23rd/April 2018, the same date when trial of the main will start.
