The former Inspector General of Police, General Kale Kayihura is being handled in line with military procedures, the Prime Minister, Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda has told Parliament.

He was responding to a question raised by Kawempe North Member of Parliament, Latif Ssebaggala during the prime Minister's question time on when government plans to present Kayihura before Court.

His concern comes after a section of people from Kisoro district asked government to present Kayihura in court so that he can face any charges government may have against him.

In response, Rugunda said there was no need for worry, saying Kayihura is a senior army officer who is being handled under military procedures.

The former police chief hasn't appeared in court since his arrest of June 13th 2018 and subsequent detention at Makindye Military barracks.

Kayihura was picked up together with several police who worked with him during his tenure as Inspector General of Police-IGP.
