IGP Kale Kaihura transfers Bukomansimbi DPC over the recent machete attacks
The Inspector General of Police, General Kale Kayihura has transferred the Bukomansimbi District Police Commander, Francis Ameru over the recent machete attacks in the district, which have claimed the lives of at least five people and left dozens of others hospitalised. The IGP has replaced Ameru with Isabirye Karooli, the commander in Charge of Operations Nagalama Police Station. Kayihura issued the directive over the weekend in a meeting with Police Commanders from Greater Masaka Region. As Ugandans welcomed the New Year 2018, attackers armed with guns and machetes moved to different villages in Lwengo and Bukomansimbi Districts, leaving a trail of bodies in their wake. Five people were killed and twelve others are still nursing injuries.
