FDC TO SUE OVER 'ILLEGAL' SWEARING IN OF LC 1 CHAIRPERSONS
The opposition Forum for Democratic Change-FDC party has vowed to sue the Electoral Commission for swearing in newly elected village council chairpersons without gazetting their names.
The outgoing FDC Party spokesperson, Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, says the party has already instructed its legal secretary to prepare the necessary papers to sue the Commission.
Ugandans went to the polls on July 10th to elect their Village Council chairpersons.
Electoral Commission declared the winners and swore them into office on August 01st, 2018 to start work.
However, FDC says the village chairpersons are in office illegally, since the Commission didn't gazette their names. According to Ssemujju, the failure by Electoral Commission to gazette the winners denies complainants grounds to challenge the polls results.

FDC wants court to compel the Electoral Commission to gazette the polls results and declare the swearing of the LC 1 chairpersons illegal.
But the Electoral Commission Spokesperson, Jotham Taremwa, says they followed the right procedures to declare and swear in the winners.
