Court summons litigants of presidential age-limit law

The Consitutional Court has issued summons ordering all litigants that filed cases challenging the new presidential age-limit law to appear before the Deputy Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny -Dollo on Tuesday next week.

According to summons signed by Deputy Registrar Esther Nambayo the law firms of Lukwago and company advocates , Uganda law society and a one Hassan Male Mabirizi are directed to appear in court on that day with out fail for a conferencing meeting .

During conferencing , parties agree on contentious issues that must be forwarded to the trial panel of 5 justices.

The summons follow petitions filed by Lawyers through their umbrella body of the Uganda Law society, opposition Mps through Lukwago and company advocates and a one Male Mabirizi seeking to nullify the age -limit law that lifted the cap of 75years as the minimum age of a person aspring to stand for the office of the president of the Republic of Uganda.

The petitioners claim the citizens of were never involved in the whole process of changing this law as required by the Constitution.
