Is Bobi Wine Seriously Considering Joining Politics?
Self-proclaimed "Ghetto President" Bobi Wine seems to suggest that he could be considering joining elective politics. His recent moves all seem to lead one to believe that at the very least, he has given it some thought. Right from distancing himself away from the so-called "Tubonga Nawe" collective, to showing up in court as a way of showing his support for the embattled former FDC Presidential aspirant Dr. Kiiza Besigye who's battling a court case on charges on treason, to hinting at possibly running for the now-declared-vacant parliamentary seat for Kyadondo East, the signs are there.
To that end, this morning when Dr. Besigye was asking to be granted bail and released from Luzira Prison - where he's spent the past two months on treason charges - and instead report to court from his home, Bobi Wine was right there to celebrate with the former presidential candidate.
Said Bobi Wine, "I'm glad that Dr. Besigye has received bail. However, this is the just the beginning of the long walk to freedom. I'm optimistic that all the trumped-up charges brought against him will eventually be dismissed, like it has been in the past. It also gives me a little more hope about our justice system where all of us are supposed to be equal under the law."
Dr. Kiiza Besigye was granted bail by the High Court earlier Tuesday and was instructed to report to court every two weeks as the case he's charged with continues.
