BOBI WINE CHARGED IN MILITARY COURT MARTIAL
Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi aka bobi wine was on Thursday quietly
produced before the Gulu Military Court Martial, allowing only two people an opportunity to see him.
The state has disclosed that the pop star cum politician has been charged with unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
Police allege they discovered firearms in his hotel room in Arua.
The two people allowed access to the legislator are Bugiri Municipality Member of parliament and lawyer Asuman Basalirwa as well as Busiro County MP and lawyer Medard Lubega Sseggona.
Basalirwa told journalists outside Gulu barracks that Kyagulanyi could not support himself and was in pain because he was tortured.
A press statement released by the Defence Spokesperson Brig. Richard Karemire says that Kyagulanyi has been remanded to Makindye military barracks until the 23rd of August.
Kyagulanyi and several other MPs were arrested on Monday after his driver was shot dead in Arua, on the last lady of campaigns in the Arua Municipality Parliamentary elections.
According to police Yassin Kawuma was shot after security forces intervened when people believed to be supporters of one of the candidates Kassiano Wadri (MP Elect) stoned President Yoweri Museveni’s motorcade.
President Museveni had earlier addressed NRM supporters at a rally in Arua for the NRM candidate Nusura Tiperu.
