30 Banks together with their Umbrella Association, Uganda Bankers Association Limited have petitioned the Constitutional court, challenging the move by Uganda Revenue Authority to obtain information for all Ugandans who have accounts in commercial banks.

The Petitioners have filed the case through AF Mpanga and Company Advocates, against the Attorney General and the Commissioner General of Uganda Revenue Authority.

They want Court to intervene and have URA's directive nullified. Recently a letter from URA leaked showing that the Authority had directed banks to submit account details of all its customers detailing how much had been deposited and withdrawn from these accounts since 2016 to date.
